So you’re at work and everyone’s talking about the delicious cake that Jean brought for her birthday. It’s just waiting to be consumed in your tea break…

Everyone’s excited to get in there and eat, but you’re really trying hard to be committed to your diet. But you also love cake (and all other sweet things). What do you do? Easy. Say the ‘magic’ word. Say ‘NO’.

You see, the issue here is that the cake is easy to eat. You’ll convince yourself that people will be offended if you don’t have any. You’ll say it’s just ONE piece of cake, and it doesn’t make a difference. You figure that you can make up for it by not having lunch. There are a thousand excuses.

But that’s exactly the problem

You give in this time, and the next time the excuse becomes even easier to make. And the time after that, easier still. Eventually, your diet programme has been replaced by a series of ‘treats’ followed by guilty feelings, and you’ll wonder why your diets never seem to work.

You have to learn to say ‘NO’ when you’re faced with these situations. There is no other way around this. Compromise is a terrible way to try to diet, and you will not make it work. Take twelve weeks of your life to change your body.
