I find that humans have this inexhaustible greed for bad news. It seems like a feeding frenzy which in turn filters through gossip and strife in our general conversation. Although there are so many good and wonderful happenings, these are seldom exposed and spoken about.

This little quote tickled me somewhat in that it is so very true – in that wherever there is a good happening, a good person, some good fortune, it will gather to it some negativity:

“Moths, and all sorts of ugly creatures, hover about a lighted candle. Can the candle help it?” – Charles Dickens, Great Expectations

Throughout history heroes are applauded for their achievements. Mostly, however there will be an element of disapproval from the naysayers

Let’s face it, we all have our faults, our bad days, our struggles and our secrets – including those who we now applaud for their wonderful contribution to society, war, charities, conservation, sport, medicine, to name but a few.

Guaranteed, there are and will always be sinister tales that seep through, just enough to sow the damaged seed in order to taint the goodness that is apparent.

Most of us just want to live life and take each day as it comes. These are the live-in-the-moment kind of people who do not necessarily have a fantastic goal set in mind to achieve. Seeking wonder in each moment and being happy in the present.

Some of us are driven, motivated and pressed by a burning desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

Some of us have lived through hell and are purposely setting out to change perceptions, laws and injustices.

We are ALL different and all want different things – and isn’t that wonderful?

It has been my impression that those who take their passion and vision seriously, have far more tribulations to work through in order to achieve. Yet, despite the diversions in their rocky road, their eyes are focused on their goal. It is not easy: life in general is not a happy musical all the time.

I wonder how many of you have experienced a hard year

I am certain that so many hearts have been broken, has yours? Have you been the victim of lies and deceit where it is unfounded? Are you the one that has had the rug pulled out from under your feet, leaving you in mid-air? Have you had your hopes dashed? Were you the head and now you find yourself the tail? Have you had your self-confidence trampled into the ground? Are you the one saying to yourself that you really do not deserve what is happening to you? When you have been trying to help people, gather funds for charities, donate your time and make the effort and it seems it’s all for nothing, what do you do?

The remedy is hard

There will be times when you will need to make difficult decisions in order to get to where you want to be. You will have to remain focused on what is important to you and strive to do your utmost never mind the bumps in the road.

You are the candle and you WILL attract all sorts of ugly creatures because you shine so beautifully inside.

If everything was easy there would be no sense of achievement, no changes, and no advancement. Do not give up: just work through it!
