Six packs aren’t made in ‘a few short weeks’
“If you do this diet and exercise programme for just four weeks, you’ll be lean and mean, and ready for the beach!”
One of the most common sales gimmicks in the diet and body transformation game is to make promises revolving around the length of time needed for the programme to deliver results. And not just any results, either. We’re talking results that are AMAZING.
The marketing material promises the kinds of transformations that are (in reality) almost impossible for the average person.
What happens is that you are made a promise like the one in italics above, and at the same time as the ‘punchline’ is delivered, you are shown pictures of gorgeous, athletically-built models. This becomes your expectation, and you feel like that’s what the diet will help you achieve in just a few short weeks. It’s pretty clever when you think about it, but also pretty shifty.
The problem with all of this is not that the diets don’t work. They CAN and DO
The problem is that because people buy into crazy results in even crazier timeframes, they give up before they get any results of any sort.
The reality is that the human body doesn’t change that rapidly, even under ideal conditions. Thinking you can get a six-pack in four weeks (or however many weeks you’ve been ‘promised’) is pretty unrealistic, because getting a six-pack is really tough for the average human. It takes a serious level of commitment, and you can be sure it isn’t happening in four weeks if you started off needing a body transformation.
Don’t get led down the garden path.
Believe ONLY what seems like it could actually be true, no matter how much you’d love to think otherwise. Set realistic goals, and you will achieve great results. But setting unrealistic goals will only lead to disappointment, and frustration.
