People are really quick to talk about having a ‘slow’ metabolism…

They claim all sorts of things – from aging to stress – as the cause of their ever-slowing metabolism, and constantly increasing bodyweight. But what are the things that can actually cause your metabolism to slow down?

Here are some of the most common ones:

1.     Your genes

We’ll start with the most miserable one first. If your parents struggled with their weight all their lives, then you’re probably going to as well. Your genetics will account for a fair portion of how fast or slowly your body deals with, and processes, energy.

You can’t really do anything about the genes you’ve been dealt. BUT you CAN be pro-active in your approach. Knowing that you’re predisposed to a slower metabolism, you can be more conscious about living a healthy lifestyle, watching your calories, and exercising to help boost your metabolism.
