Type-2 diabetes can also affect other areas of your body, including your sex organs (vaginal dryness and lack of ability to orgasm are reasonably common). These symptoms affect about one in three people with the disease.
5. Avoidance is better than cure
There are a lot of things you can do to make sure you don’t land up with type-2 diabetes in the first place.
Eating a healthy, varied diet, taking regular exercise, staying well hydrated, and avoiding smoking are all good practices.
For women, if you’ve had polycystic ovary syndrome, gestational diabetes, or have delivered a baby larger than 4kg you are also at higher risk, so be vigilant.
