If you wish that you’d love more room to relax at home, here are some tips to help you make the most of your small living room…

Buy better

Instead of filling the room with lots of small chairs and side tables, look for larger pieces that offer as much seating with a more streamlined look.

Before buying furniture, measure the floor space and look for furniture that will help you make the most of the space you have. For example, in a narrow living room, the seat depth of a sofa makes a big difference.

Ditch the coffee table

Replace that large coffee table with an ottoman and you have extra seating or, with a tray popped on top, a coffee table.

Another idea for a small space is to add a space-saving wall shelf behind a sofa that you can use to display some décor and as a place to put your coffee cup.

Keep it light and neutral

Decorating in light, neutral colours help to make a small space look bright, open and airy.

Reflect the light

Use a large mirror and reflective surfaces, like a shimmery metallic vase or mirror tray, to help bounce natural light and add depth to a small space.
