Eat fruit

Fruit really is an amazing food group. Fruits are packed full of nutrients, they contain a bucket-load of fibre, and they’re sweet, juicy, and tasty. Fruits are an excellent way to get an easy snack, a great diet dessert option, a meal when you’re on the move and in a rush, and a wonderful way to eat something that satisfies your need for mindless eating.

I know fruit has taken a bashing in the diet-world of late, but I’m here to champion its cause. You see, the reason certain diet gurus don’t advocate for fruit is exactly the reason you should eat it: SUGAR.

Yes, fruit contains some sugar. That’s why it’s sweet. But it’s not the sugar you are thinking of – the white, refined, ‘dangerous’ stuff. Fruit has a different kind of sugar, one that’s far less unhealthy. Think about it like this: You’d have to eat a LOT of apples to equal the sugar effect of a bar of chocolate.

The simple truth of fruit is that it’s a totally natural way to get something sweet in an otherwise pretty strict diet plan. It keeps you healthy, it provides the fibre your digestive system desperately needs, and it’ll make you happy. And if that’s not enough to get you eating fruit, think of it this way, fruit is what the animals eat, and it’s what we humans ate too, until a couple thousand years ago or so. That must mean something about whether it’s good for us or not.
