The Spice Girls are back! Well, they’re back on tour at least – and we’re excited. These are the style lessons we’ve learnt from the Spice Girls tour of the UK and Ireland.
Just when you thought the Spice Girls were over, they’re back on tour and have an animated movie in the works. The queens of Girl Power led a movement in the nineties with their fierce lyrics and fabulous outfits and we’re glad to see nothing has changed.
A big part of choosing whether you were Baby, Posh, Sporty, Ginger or Scary, was choosing an outfit to go with your new name. The Spice Girls have been style icons for years and their on tour looks show that they have no plans of slowing down.
While we live in hope that the tour comes to SA at some point, we have been carefully watching the ladies on-stage looks for style inspiration. These are the style lessons we’ve learnt from the Spice Girls tour of the UK and Ireland.
You don’t really ‘wannabe’ a spice girl unless you’re rocking spice shoes. Giant platforms or crazy high block heels are your friend if you really want to let your inner spice out.
Animal print princess
Mel B basically invented animal print and we’re glad to see she is still slaying in printed pieces in 2019. Animal print is always on trend and will look great on you whether you’re a Spice fan or not.
Do a cartwheel in a cute athleisure look, just like our girl Mel C. Mel C’s iconic sports-inspired looks are a huge trend now, especially her signature chunky sneakers.
The iconic union jack
Speaking of iconic, it doesn’t get more ‘Spice Girls’ than Geri’s tiny little union jack dress. She’s gone for a longer version of the dress on this tour, but we are still loving it. A cute union jack tee is a great way to pay homage to the ladies.
Grown up spice
The Spice Girls style has evolved. They’re showing less skin and even performing in ball gowns. It’s okay for your style to change and grow – just don’t let it become boring, the Spice Girls would never do that.
Be your spicy self
If there’s anything the Spice Girls have taught us about life or style, it’s to always be true to who you are – so wear whatever you want; as long as you look and feel great it really doesn’t matter.
