I was a guest at the Chef’s Table at Fairmont Zimbali Resort and had my taste buds tantalised with a festival of flavours and exquisite cuisine…


Not only does Coral Tree restaurant have an amazing menu they also offer daily buffets. It consists of a dining area with a covered terrace that allows diners an opportunity to enjoy an amazing view. Suitable for families, romantic dinners and corporate functions, Coral Tree restaurant will not disappoint…

We were greeted by a very proud Chef Tony Kocke who was eager for to us taste the amazing five-course meal that had been prepared by himself and a triage of amazing chefs. Not to mention a delicious cocktail handed to you as you were seated.

Every month they showcase a new menu: this month (June) one of the courses was inspired by all things beef

The meal began with a duck liver terrine that was delicate and velvet in texture and literally melted in your mouth. The courses that followed were mouthwatering. The starter was a seared beef carpaccio with exotic mushrooms and garlic chips, caper berries and Parmesan, oh and truffle, let’s not forget the truffle.. YUM

This was then followed by a second course which consisted of all the fruits of the ocean. Langoustine, salmon, calamari and mussels. Everything a seafood lover could dream of.

After that amazing seafood adventure we were served the main course

The Crème de la crème of courses. Beef cheek, butternut, Jerusalem Artichokes and endive marrow. Melting moments of exquisite cuisine.

The grand finale was my favourite ingredient… CHOCOLATE. Chocolate marquise with berry soup and caramel ice cream, to be more specific.
