Making your very own homemade ice cream can help you cut back on hundreds of calories.

Ice cream is one of the most delicious and comforting desserts out there! It is creamy, sweet and absolutely decadent after all. Sadly, it can also help you to pile on the calories. So, unless you are looking to gain some weight, ice cream may not be your best dessert option to indulge in on a regular basis.

Most ice creams tend to be very high in calories as they are often loaded with sugar, sweeteners and other high calorie ingredients. You may sometimes find that some shop bought varieties are a little too sweet.

Lower calorie ice cream

Consider making your very own ice cream at home, if you are wanting a slightly healthier and lower calorie option. Doing so, will allow you to add less sugar. Healthy ingredients such as your favourite type of fruit can be used to add flavour and texture to your ice cream, instead of refined and processed sweeteners.

Be sure to watch your portion size when consuming ice cream – no matter how tempting it may be to add an extra scoop or two!
