Walking is often regarded as one of the easiest ways to burn some calories by some. Do you often go on walks?

If not, here are a few ways in which you can increase the number of walks that you do.

Join a local parkrun

Consider joining a local parkrun in your area. This is where  a group of people (often a very large one!) meet at a starting point to engage in a 5km run or walk. Walks are done at each individual’s own pace. Take friends or family members with you and enjoy this time together whilst improving your fitness levels.

Walk when at the shopping mall

If you find going to the gym boring and love the shopping atmosphere, consider spending extra time at the shopping mall. You do not necessarily have to buy things, just browse or window shop through the different levels. You will be amazed at how many more steps you can take for the day by doing this!

Pick up the pace

Consider increasing the intensity of your walk if you want to speed up calorie burning. Always stop if you experience any discomfort or pain and remember that the more fit you are, the more comfortable you will feel when engaging in fast walking.

Dress comfortably

Be sure to wear comfortable attire when going out on walks. This includes wearing appropriate socks and walking shoes too!

Consult your doctor

Always remember to consult with your doctor before starting any new exercise regime or making intense changes to your current one – especially if you suffer from any medical conditions and for some reason are required not to place your body or yourself under any form of stress or strain.
