Cheat a little every now-and-then

One of the best things you can do for your weight loss progress is to go rogue on your diet plan every once-in-a-while. I’m not telling you to have a week off, or even a whole day off.

What I am saying is ONCE PER WEEK, have a treat that you shouldn’t normally have. It should be reasonably small, but really enjoyable. It should also be an experience, not just a ‘pig out’ session.

Why would doing this be a good way to lose weight effectively?

Because knowing you’ve got a treat coming in a couple of days’ time will help you stick to the plan for those couple of days. Thinking you’re going to be eating ‘nothing but dry toast’ for months on end is not a great outlook against which to diet.

So having that perspective of the eventual treat will keep you on the straight and narrow. And that’s what dieting is all about – how long can you do the programme for? If you can keep going for longer, the results you’ll get will be MUCH better.

A little cheat can be amazingly helpful for the above reason, and also because it helps you to function more like a regular human when you’re in social situations. You can have a little dessert at a party, instead of turning it down completely. Just make sure it’s worth having a cheat for. You don’t want to have something you don’t like as your only treat for the week, do you?
