If you hate spending hours cleaning, here are three simple habits to help keep your home clean and tidy in just a few minutes a day…

1. Pick up and go

Make it a rule in your home to never leave a room or zone in your home empty-handed – always look for something to pick up and pack away.

For example, when you’re leaving the living room to check on food cooking in the kitchen, pick up any mugs and plates lying around that you can pack straight in the dishwasher.

When the kids have finished bathing, they need to pick up their dirty clothes and drop them in the laundry basket.

2. Basket case cleaning

If you’re sick of picking up your kids’ things, implement a basket system, as recommended by cleaning expert Melissa Maker, of Clean My Space.

Give everyone their own basket and when you find things lying around the house, put it in the individual’s basket, making it their responsibility to put it away at the end of the day.

3. Quick cleaning

Speed up your cleaning process by keeping cleaning supplies where you need them the most and try to clean a little bit every day.

For example, while you’re brushing your teeth with one hand, you could clean the bathroom mirror with the other.
