If your hips are the widest part of your body, steer clear of long, clingy jerseys that hug your hips, because they make them look wider. Rather opt for knitted pieces that sit just at your hip bone for a flattering look. A shorter sweater, chunky knit or a loose fit jersey will create volume on your torso to balance out your hips. Look for longer, loose tunic style jerseys that end mid-thigh – they’re very flattering for pear shapes.
Hourglasses should focus on highlighting their waists as they already have well-proportioned bodies. Lightweight, form-fitting knits look great on you because they highlight your curves perfectly. Skinnier, fitted knits will complement your shape by showing off your waist and curves.
Rectangle or boyish frames
Straighter figures can experiment with prints and bright colours to create the illusion of curves. You can also add more bulk to your chest by opting for chunkier knits and thicker fabrics. Knitted garments that you can belt at the waist also help define your waist and make your bust and hips appear curvier. Look for textured, fluffier knits and higher necklines, such as polonecks, to add some shape to your bust.
Apple shapes have curvy torsos which make it difficult to find flattering knits. Longer length, waterfall and cocoon cardigans are flattering on your figure as they elongate your torso and make you look taller and slimmer. You can also opt for A-line style jerseys that are wider at the bottom but fit well at the chest. You should avoid chunkier and thicker fabrics which add bulk to your frame.
