According to the South African Weather Service, gale force westerly to south westerly winds of 60-75km/h are expected along the coast between Cape Agulhas and Port Alfred…

High seas with wave heights in excess of 6m are expected between Mossel Bay and Plettenberg Bay.

Strong to gale force winds of 50-65km/h are expected over the southern interior of the Northern Cape as well as over the Central Karoo in the Western Cape afternoon, subsiding by evening.

According to Snow Report SA, temperatures will drop in the Western Cape from Wednesday which could possibly result in snowfall. “We’re seeing the possibility of up to 5cm of snow falling down to below 2000m on the Hex River Mountains, the Boland Range, the Matroosberge and in the Cederberg from Wednesday afternoon until the evening,” said the organisation.

“Once the weather clears the snow may be visible from Franschhoek, Paarl, Wellington, Wolseley, Tulbagh, and from the N1 near Rawsonville, Worcester and De Doorns, as well as the Bain’s Kloof Pass.”

“By Thursday morning a light dusting of snow may have fallen on Swartberge near Ladismith, Calitzdorp and Oudtshoorn, and on the mountains to the East and West of Uniondale.”

“Snow is unlikely to settle at levels that are accessible by vehicle, except on top of Matroosberg where some light snow is possible, and there is also a possibility for the top of the Swartberg Pass.”
