Exercise is a human necessity. There, I said it…

It’s a bitter pill to swallow if you’re among the many, many people who avoid physical activity of any sort in favour of more TV time, but it’s the truth. You see, our bodies need to work hard in order to stay fit enough to do their jobs well, and because the rest of our lives have become so sedentary, we need to exercise.

Here are the top reasons why older people avoid exercise, and why these reasons don’t actually count:

1. I’m too old to exercise

Talk about a negative attitude! If you feel too old to exercise then you really need to do something about that… and that something is exercise.

Exercising, even for just five minutes every day, can make a huge difference to how young you feel – and that’s pretty important for your overall quality of life.

Start with a five-minute walk every day, and two strength-building sessions (with a trainer if possible) per week, and build up from there.
