Choose the right size
When it comes to choosing the right rug size, big rugs are better.
For example, instead of a small rug that only fits under the living room coffee table, choose a rug that is big enough so that the front legs of the sofas are on the rug.

Wash and wear
When looking at rugs, consider the amount of foot traffic the rug will have to endure, if the room gets a lot of direct sunlight and how easy the rug is to clean. This will affect the type of rug best suited to your needs.
For example, in a sunny space, a pale-coloured rug may be a better choice than a bright or dark coloured one as it is less likely to show signs of sun-fading.
