Meghan Markle’s dad has blasted Lifetime‘s new royal biopic Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal, which aired on US screens over the weekend
The film, which follows last year’s A Royal Romance, continues the love story of newlyweds Prince Harry and his American actress bride as they tackle the challenges of their first year of marriage, public scrutiny and news of a royal baby.
According to TMZ, the former Hollywood lighting director labelled the royal biopic “dumb fiction” and was “incredibly disappointed” at the manner in which he is portrayed
In the film, Meghan reacts to news of her father ‘faking a heart attack’ and liaising with paparazzi for payment. “We had to hear about this in the tabloids… and you did stage the photos,” an annoyed Meghan says in the film.
Way to air their dirty laundry, Lifetime!

So I am curious how the producers of #BecomingRoyal know all of these little details happened. Argument, how she told him she was pregnant, etc. Did they interview them or guessing? ??

23 minutes in and I’m bored. The casting, the weird British banter, the *almost* racist connotations. This is just so bad #BecomingRoyal

This is so stupid

Other’s were simply underwhelmed at the casting and even poked fun at several characters

I never got why people were angry she rubbed her belly. She’s fucking pregnant. What the hell you want her to do? And what makes it even worse was women were saying this. Disgusting and sad. #BecomingRoyal

Was Nikki Minaj not free? Cause I kind of feel like they should have just cast her for the new Harry and Meghan movie on #Lifetime . Or, you know, just not made the sequel at all if the 2 stars weren’t coming back.

Who the hell are these two guys?? The “I Wanna Marry Harry” guy looked more like the real Harry than this guy. And I can’t even talk about fake Wills. You can do better than this #lifetime #BecomingRoyal pic.twitter.com/L4nlqzmgTp

Watching the new lifetime movie on Meghan and Harry and the casting director knows good and darn well William don’t have all that much hair

I’m v upset they changed the actors who played Harry and Meghan in the second Lifetime movie.

Despite the overwhelming negative reviews, some tweeps praised the storyline for revealing the couple’s personal challenges, including Meghan’s adjustment into the Royal Family
She had to move, quit her job, deal with family issues publicly, deal with media scrutiny, racism, change her religion, get permission for her own wedding….guuurrll #BecomingRoyal

I feel like for the past year people kept saying Kate Middleton went through the same as Meghan Markle and it’s all a part of becoming a royal, but one BIG thing Kate didn’t have to deal with was racism. Kudos to them for persevering through it all. #BecomingRoyal
