Can this condition be avoided?

It is important to manage your weight effectively so that you are of a healthy weight. If you are obese or overweight, chat to your doctor. He or she can recommend a dietitian or nutritionist who will be able to assist you in creating a suitable eating plan for you to adopt. Similarly, consider seeking the assistance of a physical trainer who can help you develop an exercise programme to follow.

Try to do ankle or foot exercises when travelling. Move around if possible and make a few stops when travelling far distances by car. Short walking breaks will be helpful.

Always inform your doctor that you have had this condition before if you are to undergo surgery, fall pregnant, or are required to be hospitalised.
