Cartier is disrupting the world of jewellery design with its game-changing new collection that celebrates duality and contrasts – and it looks incredible, of course…

When you work for an online women’s publication like All4Women, you end up seeing a lot of jewellery collections from a lot of different brands (which we’re definitely not complaining about!). And, although we can usually find something we like about all of them, there’s something… different about the new Clash de Cartier collection. Here’s why we can’t stop thinking about it.

First off, everything from the Clash de Cartier range is gorgeous

The collection, with its studs, grids and curves, immediately strikes you as beautiful in a way that you’ve never seen before. It’s definitely the kind of jewellery that turns heads and will make strangers ask you where you bought your beautiful ring.

Somehow Cartier manages to achieve this show stopping look without compromising clean lines and classic designs. It’s the kind of jewellery that you know will still be causing a stir 50 years from now.

The collection celebrates both sides of you

Often we see fashion described as elegant or unconventional, sharp or delicate, static or flowing, simple or detailed, but the Clash de Cartier collection really is a balance of both.

We know that people are wonderfully complex – sometimes serious and sometimes seriously fun, sometimes quiet and calm and sometimes excited and active. Cartier wanted to capture and celebrate this duality with the new collection that simultaneously champions and eschews classic forms, that balances clean design with an excess of energy, and a serious spirit with original charm. It’s jewellery for royals and rebels!

The design and production processes are ingenious

The luxe jewellery maker didn’t just want to design something beautiful, Cartier wanted to craft pieces that are interconnected, but moveable with perfect proportions. Traditional wax micro casting and high-tech machining techniques are used to produce the ingenious articulated mechanism which allows each stud to move independently. Thanks to this genius design, the pieces are playful, stackable and wearable.

Celebs and trendsetters are just as excited as we are

The launch of the collection in Paris was a star-studded affair. Attendees of the black-tie event included director Sofia Coppola, actors Jake Gyllenhaal, Remi Malak, Tilda Swinton, Troye Sivan and Letitia Wright, and the face of the new collection, actor Kaya Scodelario.

It even comes with its own soundtrack!

The campaign film produced to launch the new collection features British actor Kaya Scodelario playing two versions of herself. Although the film itself captures the essence of Clash de Cartier, we’re even more excited that Cartier also commissioned Michel Gaubert to create a collection playlist. The songs chosen by the sound director are a mix of irreverent, punk tunes and upbeat interpretations of classics. We already have it on repeat – click here if you’d like to listen to it on Spotify.
