Hours after Saray Khumalo made it to the top of Mount Everest, some of Mzansi’s most adventurous celebrities will be embarking on their own ambitious journey as they aim to make it to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro
Trekking to the summit of Africa’s highest peak is an exercise that requires great reserves of mental and physical strength, but it looks as if Thuli Madonsela and actor Clement Maosa are ready to take on the challenge.
Both public figures declared their intention of conquering the mountain in Tanzania in the coming weeks.
Thuli actually revealed her Kilimanjaro ambitions last month when she announced that she would be leading a group of young girls to the peak of the dormant volcano.
The former public protector will be leading the trek in a bid to raise funds for disadvantaged girls in South Africa who have mountains of their own to climb.
Congratulations #SarayKhumalo on summiting #Everest. Inspired as we prepare to summit Kilimanjaro on August 09 for a similar purpose which is #Caring4Girls by climbing so that they need not. #Trek4Mandela https://t.co/8jYJb4beFh

Meanwhile, actor Clement also intends to conquer Kilimanjaro and will be joining the 2019 edition of the annual Trek4Mandela expedition
He and several other notable South Africans will be climbing the mountain in a bid to raise funds for the Nelson Mandela foundation.
In an interview with Tshisa Live, Clement shared some more personal reasons for wanting to reach Kilimanjaro’s summit. He wants to dedicate the climb to his late parents as well as to the late entertainers, Dumi Masilela and Akhumzi Jezile.
He wrote on Instagram, “I’m doing it in honour of my beloved ones. My late mom and dad, my late mom- and dad-in-law, late friends who touched and impacted my life”.
He tagged both Akhumzi and Dumi’s Instagram accounts when he referred to his late friends.
Training for Kilimanjaro is a task in itself and we are certain that Thuli and Clement will be doing everything they can in order to be in peak shape (no pun intended) when the land in Tanzania in the coming weeks.
Reaching the mountain’s summit can take anything between five and nine days, depending on conditions on the day.
