Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha’s troubled romance once again caused a stir on social media when the gqom star was accused of being disrespectful by doing the vosho and posing for selfies outside the Pinetown Magistrates Court on Wednesday

This was Mampintsha’s second appearance in court over assault charges laid against him by Babes in March, after an Instagram Live video of Mampintsha slapping Babes several times went viral and sparked widespread outrage.

According to TshisaLIVE things took an unexpected turn on Wednesday when state prosecutor Ndoda January told the court that both Babes and Mampintsha had agreed the case should be referred to Families South Africa (Famsa) for mediation.

Over the past few weeks several reports claimed that Babes had apparently dropped the charges against Mampintsha and that they had reunited.

However, Mampintsha’s lawyer Pat Magwaza told the publication that the charges against him still stood.

“[Famsa] is to try and resolve the matter between the two,” he said.

They are both back in court on 11 June.

Meanwhile, before dashing off for Mampintsha’s appearance, Babes, her sister Nondumiso Simelane and fellow artist Tipcee made a brief appearance at the Durban Magistrate’s court on separate charges of assault laid against them for an incident that allegedly occurred at an Umbilo guesthouse

That case was also referred for mediation.

As the matter unfolded in court, the social media streets were filled with comments about Babes’ apparent disrespect for the law.
