Trichomoniasis is a relatively common genital tract infection and can affect females of any age. It is caused by a small organism, known as Trichomonas vaginalis.
What are the symptoms of trichomoniasis?
The following symptoms may be experienced: a burning feeling during urination, an inflamed and itchy vagina as well as vaginal discharge that is greenish-yellow in colour. Vaginal discharge may also be odorous. Pain in the lower abdomen area and discomfort during intercourse can be experienced.
Will you always experience the above symptoms?
Note that there are often no symptoms if you have this condition. It is therefore possible that you are infected without even realising it.
