Her medical studies

Rolene is now a qualified medical doctor, but she had to put the brakes on her studies when she won the Miss SA title. Her win at the Miss World pageant meant she had to put her studies on hold for two years.

“The most difficult part was seeing all my friends graduating, and here I am still having to do two years of medical studies. So it was very difficult to give up my studies,” she said.

She lost her routine

Rolene’s busy schedule as Miss South Africa meant she didn’t have enough time to do the things she usually did like exercising regularly and eating healthy meals.

“I was used to getting up at a certain time in the morning, go to gym, going to hospital, going to class, packing my food beforehand and that disappeared. Even though people expected me to be in the best shape of my life as Miss South Africa. I just couldn’t because I didn’t have the time… and when I went to events people just wanted to feed me and spoil me,” she says.

Rolene picked up some weight and says that the biggest she has ever been was during her reign.
