Beauty influencer Mihlali Ndamase has blasted airlines FlySafair after her flight ended with police being called to escort her and her friends off a plane

Mihlali says that the airline’s staff called them “animals” because they were being loud on the flight.

“I didn’t know it was against the law to speak on a flight, I mean if you have an issue with hearing black people’s voices buy a private jet.

“I can’t believe we have to deal with such treatment in 2019 for being black, I’m so disappointed,” she complained on Instagram.

The YouTube star says she tried to handle the situation “with as much grace and maturity as possible” but was left “outraged” by the disrespect they allegedly received by Safair staff.

“They called policemen to escort us off the flight, because we questioned what the issue was with our behaviour and funny enough the policemen saw absolutely NOTHING wrong with our behaviour.

She called on the airline to educate and train its staff properly.

“I can’t spend my money on a flight only to be treated like someone who’s not supposed to be on the airline, because of the colour of my skin.”

While many of Mihlali’s fans sympathised with her, some questioned whether she was drunk on the flight

“If Mihlali was really drunk with her friends and being all loud, noisy and unnecessary like some passengers who were on the plane claiming… Then she’s wrong for using her huge social platform to flat out iron her own intoxicated behaviour that was supposedly all over the place,” one Twitter user wrote.

Another added: “We(blacks) really need to stop making every incident a racial issues. It’s tiring. Next thing we will be saying umlungu is being racist just by breathing. #Mihlali #Flysafair.”

Some of Mihlali’s followers were quick to defend her

“Your dislike for Mihlali is distasteful. Even if she was an issue on the plane it does not warrant being called an animal or barbaric like some of you on the TL. It does not matter what she did, being called an animal is racist. You siding with white people is disgusting,” one tweep wrote.

Some tweeps questioned whether the whole thing was just a publicity stunt to educate travellers about drinking and flying – just like Moozlie’s fake drinking and driving stunt with VW.

“What if Mihlali n FlySAfair are shooting an ad about drunken flying? Remember when Nomuzi played us with that ad?”

Safair says it is looking into the incident

“Hello we’re aware of the situation and plans are in action,” a post on its Twitter account read.

Here’s Mihlali’s post about her Safair flight ordeal.

My friends and I were called animals by these people on @flysafairza because we were being “loud” on the flight. I didn’t know it was against the law to speak on a flight, I mean if you have an issue with hearing black people’s voices buy a private jet 🤷🏽‍♀️ I can’t believe we have to deal with such treatment in 2019 for being black, I’m so disappointed. Please hire EDUCATED, TRAINED staff. I can’t spend my money on a flight only to be treated like someone who’s not supposed to be on the airline, because of the colour of my skin. They called policemen to escort us off the flight, because we questioned what the issue was with our behavior and funny enough the police men saw absolutely NOTHING wrong with our behavior. I tried to handle this matter with as much grace and maturity as possible but I’m outraged by how much disrespect we got from the staff of FLYSAFAIR @flysafairza
