Treat her to a day of indulgence

Giving your mother something sweet to show her how much she means to you is one of the best ways to treat her. And with the variety of bakeries and sweet stores in Cape Town, you are absolutely spoiled for choice. For example, you could take your mother to The Velvet Cake Company for a delectable selection of cupcakes and cake slices.

If your mother is a chocoholic, you can take her to one of the many Lindt stores dotted around the city for a day of indulging in rich and creamy chocolate. You can stop off for some delectable ice cream at Häagen-Dazs while strolling through the stores at your favourite shopping centre. A day spent eating sweet treats will make for an exciting and enjoyable day.

Take her out into nature

On Mother’s Day, it can be fun to do something a little unconventional, such as taking a walk around Intaka Island in Century City to explore the beautiful surrounds and discover the wildlife that lives on the island. You can pack a picnic lunch for the day to sit and relax with your mother, allowing her to soak up  the stunning surroundings.

You could also spend the day at one of the local nature reserves such as the Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens. Here you will find the unique Tree Canopy Walkway which allows you to walk through the treetops, looking at the gorgeous scenery and posing for photographs. There are often open-air concerts to sit in and listen to while munching on a delicious picnic lunch. Taking your mother out for a day in nature can be an exciting and unique experience for a special day.

Trawl the stalls at a market

There are several exciting markets in and around Cape Town to choose from. Spend the day exploring the Mojo Market in Sea Point, tasting the sumptuous treats and buying your mother something special to remember the day. Or take her for a hands-on experience at the Flower Cafe!

Combining a hands-on floral experience with mouth-watering homemade cakes and barista-brewed coffee is the genius new idea from Petals Group, who’ve been in business since 1967!
