The Little Things That Make a Big Difference’ is an article series outlining weight loss and diet interventions that may seem insignificant, but can make a huge difference to the success of your diet plan.

Fibre for the win

One of the most under-appreciated interventions in terms of successful weight loss is eating a high amount of fibre every day.

There are a few reasons for this.

  • Fibre is tough to eat, so you’ll eat less at meal times when the meal has lots of fibre.
  • Fibre also fills you up and keeps you full, so it’ll be longer than usual before you want to eat again.
  • The fibre particles also get into your digestive system like bulldozers, and push through all of the stuff that’s hanging around in there, so you get rid of the junk and keep your insides clean.
  • And lastly, fibre is really only found in foods that are healthy, so a high-fibre diet is also a healthy, diet-friendly way of eating.

To get enough fibre in your day there are three things to focus on: one, eat lots of vegetables and fruits. Two, eat wholegrain bread. And three, take a fibre supplement before bed each night. These three steps will have your weight loss moving along faster than before, and make you a healthier person, too.
