British superstar Sam Smith made the difficult decision to cancel the rest of his shows in Cape Town after getting medical advice
Big Concerts released a statement on Wednesday afternoon, confirming that the Stay with Me hitmaker’s shows scheduled for 17 and 18 April at GrandWest Casino would not go ahead.
This, after Sam took to the stage on 16 April for just 40 minutes but could not continue due to strain to his voice.
“Big Concerts regrets to announce that the remaining Sam Smith shows on 17th and 18th April at the Grand Arena, GrandWest have been cancelled.
“This difficult decision was made after Sam sought advice from medical specialists and his team, and after having to cut his show short last night with concerns for his voice,” read part of the statement.
The statement added that the singing sensation is “deeply upset” that he’s unable to perform for Cape Town fans, but needs to rest
Big Concerts confirmed that refunds would be issued to everyone who purchased tickets.
