2. Add pops of pattern and colour

To add pops of colour, pattern or a theme to a plain looking bed, add patterned scatter cushions.

When plain bed linen starts to look tired, give your kids permission to get creative with fabric paint or fabric dye and give their bedding a unique new look with tie-dye, stencils or free-hand splashes of colour – what fun.

3. Make art

While we’re talking about painting, make artwork with your kids that you can use to decorate the walls.

As for the frames, shop flea markets and charity shops for cheap photo frames and don’t worry if they don’t match. Given a lick of paint, those shabby frames will look like a chic, cohesive collection for a cute gallery-style wall.
