If you’d love to renovate a bathroom in your home, here are simple ways to give your bathroom a makeover on a budget
Instead of dreaming about a big and unaffordable bathroom renovation, try these cost-effective ways to spruce up a bathroom:
A splash of colour
When retiling is out of the question, painting the walls is an easy enough DIY to help refresh a bathroom.
Consider using a shade of colourful paint to distract the eye away from boring tiles, create a vibrant contrast, or enhance a tone in mottled tiling that you prefer.
For example, if you have a mottled beige and grey tile and you’re bored with the beige, paint the walls a dark or light grey, add grey towels and instead of seeing beige first, the bathroom will have more of a grey, urban chic look.
If an all-white bathroom looks too stark for your liking, add contrast by painting the walls in a deep, emerald green, add gold hardware for warmth, and bring in some potted palms to complete a modern tropical look.
Using paint specifically made for bathrooms and kitchens is recommended as it helps reduce the chance of mould build-up. However, if you have a well-ventilated bathroom and leftover house paint from another room you could use it to help keep expenses down.
