The Little Things That Make a Big Difference’ is an article series outlining weight loss and diet interventions that may seem insignificant, but can make a huge difference to the success of your diet plan.

Be “that “that guy/girl”

I don’t know about you, but when I offer someone a chocolate and they say “I’ll just have one little block, please” I nearly faint, every time. You see, I was not blessed with the gift of being able to enjoy one tiny block of a much larger chocolate bar (or whatever other good food is going). I want to eat ALL OF IT! That’s clearly how you get maximum enjoyment, isn’t it?

Well, here’s the thing

These ‘weirdos’ who can eat just a little of their favourite non-diet foods are able to enjoy the taste without the negative effect of the food, while people like me have to restructure our whole diet-lives around the few giant mistakes we are going to make, if we want to lose weight.

So maybe there is a reason to be ‘that guy/girl’ – the one who eats just a little bit of something nice.

But how?

Well, just try it. Next time someone offers you dessert and you think (like always) that the options are NONE or LOTS, choose option three, JUST A LITTLE. Force those words out of your mouth, and enjoy the treat. What you’ll enjoy even more is the idea that you haven’t just destroyed your diet, and you will walk away feeling normal, rather than overeaten. The next time will be even easier, too. You just have to start. Do it today.
