Voted year after year as “The Best City in the World” by the UK Telegraph, Cape Town is a city that needs no introduction
But there is more to the Mother City than that which meets the eye, with a few hidden gems nestled on the coastline which shares an ocean with the pristine West Coast National Park.
The West Coast stretches from the town of Blaauwberg to St Helena Bay and forms the perfect road trip, boasting quaint villages, pristine beaches and delectable food at restaurants and cafes along the way.
Here are six spots you must see on your trip from Cape Town to the West Coast National Park:
1. Blaauwberg Nature Reserve on the West Coast

The reserve is one of very few destinations in South Africa where there are two UNESCO World Heritage Sites in sight – Table Mountain and Robben Island.
The fynbos slopes and sandy coastline are home to a number of animal species, including 49 different land and ocean mammals, 162 bird species, and as many as 559 plant species.

Melkbosstrand is a beautiful coastal village and beach that is known for its water sports. The Main Beach is great for long walks and there are several dining spots along the main road.
The nearby Koeberg Nature Reserve is a wonderful place for nature walks, with an opportunity to see animals like grysbok, steenbok, duiker, bontebok and springbok.
