Easter means time for Splashy Fen – in the beautiful Underberg mountains of KZN – and we’ve got three sets of double tickets to give away!
Back in 1990, two local Underberg farmers decided to host an intimate weekend of music with a couple of friends from the area. Seven short months later, over 1 200 enthusiasts from across South Africa arrived to enjoy a selection of live music set in the natural amphitheatre of the Splashy Fen in Underberg. That was the magical moment that Splashy Fen Music Festival was born!
#Splashy2019: Celebrating 30 years of good times!
2019 sees the festival celebrate its 30th edition. That’s 30 years of supporting local South African music; 30 years of providing a platform for craft, art and food vendors to grow their small businesses; 30 years of offering fans a fun, safe, inclusive home away from home in one of the most beautiful parts of our country; 30 years of giving back to the local community, and 30 years of creating and sharing a unique Splashy Fen ethos – unmatched by any other event in South Africa. 30 years of good times!
Now, with two weeks to go until South Africa’s friendliest festival kicks off in the beautiful rolling hills of Underberg, preparations are well under way. While Splashy Fen is now attracting big international names like Wheatus, British-based YOUNGR, Australians Juzzie Smith and Kim Churchill, the festival continues to focus very strongly on partnering with KZN and SA artists at every opportunity.
From local Underberg legends like Don Clarke, to South African favourites like Jeremy Loops, The Kickstands and PJ Powers as well as up-and-coming musos and international hot shots, there really is something for everyone to look forward to as the festival showcases over 100 acts across five unique stages.
“As a business, we are passionate about the South African music scene.” Says Creative Director, Andrew van Rensburg. “But what we’ve come to learn since we first took over the iconic festival in 2016, is that people come out to Underberg to enjoy more than just the music. Families big and small, groups of friends young and old… there are all types of people on site across the Easter long weekend and it’s our mission, and pleasure, to provide pockets of experiences for them all.”
South Africa’s longest running music festival will take place over the traditional Easter weekend from Thursday 18 April to Monday the 22 April 2019. Tickets are limited to 8 000 and there are just over 1000 remaining – so book your tickets now to avoid disappointment – visit www.splashyfen.co.za
