Building and maintaining social relationships with friends and even extended family can help to improve a person’s quality of life by preventing loneliness.

Loneliness and social isolation can sometimes even lead to premature death, as some studies have revealed. People can give support and care to one another during difficult times. They can at the same time also share in each other’s happy moments and joyous celebrations. Here are a few simple suggestions to help you build and/or maintain social relationships.

Plan get-togethers

Everybody has a busy life especially with trying to balance family needs with work, whilst managing a household at the same time. It may therefore be helpful if get-togethers with friends or perhaps even some of your extended family members are planned.

Set a date aside well in advance, one that suits everybody. In this way, everyone can plan around it and have sufficient time to prepare themselves so that they are all available.
