Whether it’s preserving the retail value of your car, or simply keeping it looking great for your own pleasure, cleaning and protecting your car’s vinyl dashboard is critical.
The burning heat of African summers can easily dry out (and warp) this area, leaving it cracked and messy. Here’s a DIY dashboard wipe that will keep everything happy, healthy and ready to beat the sun…
What you’ll need:
- 2 tall wipe containers (reuse a baby wipe container for ease and convenience)
- A roll of ‘disposable’ kitchen cloths
- 2 cups of warm distilled water
- 2 cups of baby oil or mineral oil
- 1 tbsp white vinegar
- 6 drops of dish soap
- 3 drops of your favourite essential oil (we suggest tea tree)
What to do:
Use a sharp knife and carefully cut the roll of wipes in half. Place them in your containers. Now gently and thoroughly mix the liquid ingredients together.
When you have a homogenous mix, pour it into the containers and allow your wipes to stand overnight for maximum absorption. That’s all: they’re now ready to use every time you need to give your dashboard a little love and attention.
With ingredients to clean and sterilise, plus the oil to feed the vinyl and keep it supple, your dashboard will look brand new when you are done!
