Jennifer Hudson has been tipped to play the Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin in an upcoming biopic titled Respect

According to Variety, production on the film began in 2018 after Jennifer was handpicked for the role by the award-winning singer herself.

The movie will look at Aretha’s journey from her childhood, singing in her father’s church’s choir, to her achieving international star status.

This comes after the star was part of the star-studded Aretha Franklin tribute.

It will be the second screen offering of the singer following the announcement of the documentary Amazing Grace.
