Baby Cele took an unpleasant trip down memory lane, but for a worthy cause, after she reflected on the abuse she suffered at the hands of her ex-husband

Baby opened up to her fans after witnessing last week’s horrific video in which KZN-based musician, Mampintsha was seen abusing Babes Wodumo. The Gqom queen captured her ex-boyfriend in the act as he struck her multiple times while she helplessly tried to defend herself.

The video has sparked fresh discussions about domestic and gender-based-violence in South Africa, with many taking Mampintsha’s actions as a lesson in how abusive men operate.

One woman who lent her voice to the ongoing discussion is Baby.

The veteran thespian was triggered by the contents of the Babes viral video and she took a moment to reflect on her own toxic relationship after witnessing the singer’s abuse

The former Uzalo star said on Instagram: “This thing is eating me inside, what happened to Babes Wodumo just took me back to the years when I was married to an abusive guy, I can’t even say man cause real men take good care of their queens.

“I was married to this monster for seven years, close friends kept telling me to get a divorce but I couldn’t not because I still had feelings for him NO but because I was scared of him, scared to leave him, he kept telling me that if I leave he will hunt me down and kill me like a dog.”

The revelation was shocking and scary to say the least, but she ended it off with a plea not only to Babes but to the rest of the country:

“Let’s keep supporting her, she needs us right now.”

The Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha saga doesn’t look like it will die down any time soon. Over the course of the weekend, the afflicted singer revealed that Mampintsha had hacked into her Instagram account and was posting deceiving content:

Do you think that more celebrities should open up about their abuse stories in order to help educate the country on how best to deal with toxic partners?
