Many people tend to focus on planning only the meals that they will consume, ahead of time. What about beverages?

Planning meals ahead of time can save you from dining out, overindulging or turning to high calorie foods whilst your meal is being prepared. You can pile on the calories without sufficiently planning your meals. The same can be said for snacks! But what about beverages?

Beverages can also be packed with calories. Energy drinks contain hundreds of calories that can easily be ingested just by having one can. Similarly, hot drinks can be loaded with calories depending on how much sugar, sweeteners, cream and milk is added to it.

Consider planning what beverages you will have for the day. For example, if you would like to have a cup of tea or coffee in the morning, purchase low fat or fat free milk ahead of time. Be conscious as to how much sugar you add to these beverages too. Similarly, if you will be having a cup or mug of these beverages at work, plan ahead and perhaps take a smaller cup to work with you. You could also purchase a lower calorie milk and take this along with you.

Take water along

Be sure to carry your own water bottle with you when leaving the house. This will help prevent you from falling into the temptation of purchasing higher calorie drinks. Keeping the liquid calories down can be easier than you think and will save you from gaining weight too!
