The lead actors of Harry & Meghan: Becoming Royal have been cast, and fans are divided on the decision

The latest royal biopic, a sequel to Lifetime‘s A Royal Romance last year, is currently in production.

The script has been written, the release date has been set and now the lead roles have been cast.

Earlier this month, Lifetime revealed that the stars of A Royal Romance would not be reprising their roles and as such, they would be recasting the role of Meghan and Harry.

Instead, actors Charlie Field and Tiffany Marie Smith will portray the Duke and Duchess of Sussex respectively as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.

The actors took to social media to share the news.

“So excited to share this royally awesome news,” Tiffany tweeted, whilst Charlie posted; “Excited to join this project”.

Even Parisa Fitz-Henley, who played Meghan in A Royal Romance took to Twitter to praise the new casting.

According to Lifetime, the movie will examine the newlyweds’ love story, “pulling back the curtain to reveal the untold joys and challenges of life inside the royal family during their pivotal first years of marriage.”

But whilst many await the anticipated biopic, some are not sold on the new stars of the show

Some brought up the fact that the actress was not black or biracial;

Some praised the hunky ‘Harry’ actor;

And then there were some who asked why a sequel was even needed;

Do you think the lead stars look anything like Meghan & Harry?
