Fashion month is in full swing; these are the trends that ruled New York fashion week:
Victoria Justice was there, Karrueche Tran was there, Shailene Woodley was there and Kerry Washington was there – New York fashion week was once again fabulous and well attended.
New York, as always, sets the tone for what we will be wearing for the rest of year. These are the trends that came out of NYC this time around – and you can wear them right now, thanks to Zando.
A nod to a bygone era, designers like Marc Jacobs and Tory Burch were all about exaggerated collars at NY fashion week. Designers were not shy to top printed dresses and shirts with collars that would make Shakespeare proud.
The colours of the rainbow
The LGBT+ flag was well represented at fashion week. Rainbow coloured designs were seen at Tomo Koizumi’s debut show as well as at Alice & Olivia and Prabal Gurung. Show your flair for fashion by pairing a rainbow top with a simple pair of jeans.
Be a show off
Throw on ruffles, bows, bells and whistles this season – it’s time to show off and be seen. Volume made a bold statement on the runways with Rodarte and Marc Jacobs both using every form of embellishment to make their looks pop.
Pleats are a classic. In fact, you’re probably wearing pleats right now. This season’s designers updated the classic style by showing skinny pleats, asymmetrical pleats and every colour pleats going in all directions on whimsical quirky dresses and skirts.
Rocking one colour from head to toe is not a look reserved for the Rihannas of the world. Designers like The Row and Ulla Johnson all showed us how to slay in one hue. Stay away from black and white this season and choose nude shades, blues, reds and even yellow.
