Elevate your standard beauty routine for an effortlessly easy date night make-up look with a few clever (and easy!) tweaks…

Whether you’re doing date night with your significant other, a night out with your gal pals or finally secured a rendezvous with your long-time crush, Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to switch up your standard beauty routine for an effortlessly easy date night make-up look…

Add a classic red lip

Few things are more iconic, chic, classy and sexy than a sultry red lip, and by simply adding this classic colour to your lips, your look will be vamped up in an instant.

This is the perfect touch to add if you want to keep the rest of your make-up understated but still want to look like you’ve gone the romantic route, or if (don’t worry, we won’t tell!) you’re running late and have no time for anything but a lick of colour on the lips as you’re running out the door.

Updated smokey eye

If you’ve been keeping an eye on the trends, you should have noticed that the smokey eye has had a colourful update – and we love it. Depending on the colour you choose, you can make your smokey eye more romantic with a bright pink shadow all over your lid, extended to a cat eye.

There really is no limit to the hue you choose, just keep the rest of your look neutral, and choose a shade that compliments your skintone.

Glitter lids

Nothing adds a bit of romance to a look like a touch of sparkle, and since glitter make-up is still trending up a storm, you may as well kill two birds with one… look.

How bold or subtle you wish to go is completely up to you, but if you plan on keeping the rest of your make-up and outfit on the simpler side, why not go bold with a gold shimmer all over the lid? Alternatively, give yourself a glitter cat eye – it really is incredibly chic and effective.

Colour liner

Make your standard or go-to look a bit more playful by simply swapping your eyeliner colour. Most of us default to a black or charcoal shade, but an electric blue, purple or emerald green can take your look to a whole new level, injecting a bit of quirk and fun while still looking super chic.

Don’t overdo it with the colours though – use a neutral eyeshadow shade and allow the liner to be the star of the show. Depending on how ‘wow’ you want the look to be, you can line just the top or bottom lid, or do both… go on, don’t be scared!

What make-up?

This is the perfect time to adopt the ‘no make-up make-up’ trend; it will look like you’ve put in minimal effort, but to maximum effect. This one is all about the skin prep, so priming is key, and a flawless, glossy foundation is key. Keep your gloss and eyes neutral, and you’ll be wowing the night away.
