Time is a critically important tool in the dieter’s arsenal, if you know how to use it. Time can be your friend or your enemy, if you’re on a diet.

Your body measures ‘time’ differently

The first thing to understand is that time is measured by your body differently than you understand it with your mind. Your body doesn’t really cut time into hours, minutes, and seconds. It deals with time in larger chunks. So your calorie-intake per hour is not very important, but your intake per week is. Even more important is your intake for the month, versus your expenditure for the same time-period.

What’s your morning routine?

But the place I want to make particular note of with reference to time is your morning routine. So you wake up, slam down your two cups of strong, black coffee, and maybe do some exercise.

How long do you wait before you eat breakfast? Well, here’s the thing. If you can wait an hour, then you’re getting the maximum fat burning from your coffee and exercise before refuelling. It’s a really simple little trick that will add up over time to become a successful weight loss intervention, but you have to do it for a while.

Use time to your advantage where you can, and make it your friend, rather than your enemy.
