Getting older doesn’t have to cost a fortune, and these budget-friendly anti-ageing beauty tips prove just that!

We all know that the ageing process is inevitable, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make it as graceful and subtle a process as possible.

The problem is, so many products that boast the words ‘anti-ageing’ on them suddenly cost twice the price… giving you a whole new set of wrinkles in the process. Well, the good news is that maintaining a youthful appearance doesn’t have to cost a fortune, and these budget-friendly anti-ageing beauty tips will show just that…

6 budget-friendly anti-ageing beauty tips you need to know

Hydrate

It might seem slightly obvious, but keeping yourself hydrated has endless benefits, especially in the beauty world. The more hydrated you are, the more hydrated your skin will be, keeping it looking fuller and more elastic. Dehydrated skin loses elasticity which causes more fine lines and wrinkles to form.

Get a collagen injection… from your fridge

As you know, collagen is the stuff that keeps your skin plump and elastic, but the production of it by our bodies reduces as we get older. The good news is that vitamin C can continue to boost collagen production, so stock up on foods like red and green peppers, guavas, broccoli and citrus fruits.

Stop touching those eyes!

The skin under your eyes is the thinnest on your face, and all that rubbing and tugging of the skin will not only stretch and pull the skin, but will break the blood vessels underneath it. This leads to bags, fine lines and wrinkles, so leave them alone!

Indulge in seafood

Your diet is just as important in the anti-ageing process as what you put on your skin, and fish is filled with those omega-3 fatty acids that aid in keeping your skin healthy and more elastic. Salmon, tuna and trout are just some fish high in omega-3s, and if they’re not going to make it on your menu, an omega-3 supplement is a budget-friendly way of reaping the benefits.

Sleep on your back

If possible, try sleeping on your back. Unless you have a silk pillowcase (which is worth the investment) sleeping on your side will add to the wrinkles on your face in the long run. The fabric constantly denting and pulling on your skin, together with gravity and the inevitable build-up of fluid that will pool in the area will cause sagging and puffiness.

Wear sunscreen (you knew this one was coming!)

It goes without saying that the sun is the number one culprit for speeding up the ageing process, and if you’re only going to buy one anti-ageing cream, it should be an SPF. You also need to wear it every single day (yes, even when it’s cloudy), and on any exposed skin.

The younger you are when you get in to this habit, the more your youthful looking skin will thank you one day.
