4. Sort kitchen cabinet clutter

There is nothing as frustrating for us when trying to pack lunch for work and the kids when you can’t find a lunchbox with a matching lid.

When you have 30 minutes, tackle a messy kitchen cupboard by taking everything out, and discard broken or underutilised kitchen utensils and containers without lids. Pack back only what you need in a way that is easiest for you and your family to keep organised.

5. Start a family tidy-up time

Cleaning up after a busy day shouldn’t be left to one family member only. Get the whole family into the routine of clearing up at a specific time of day for 10 – 30 minutes.

Discuss how to divide tidying up tasks with your partner, give your kids age-appropriate jobs, turn on your family’s favourite music (you could even create a personal cleaning-up soundtrack) and make it a game to see how much you can all get done in a set amount of time.
