All4Women fashion writer Lumka is tired of 2018’s trends and seeing the same old clothes on Instagram – she says it’s time for something new and fabulous!

New year, new trends. Out with cycling shorts and fanny packs and in with tie-dye and chaps – well that’s what I’m hoping for at least.

Every year we get new wild and fabulous fashions and this year will be no different. I’m tired of 2018’s trends and seeing the same old clothes on Instagram – I’m ready for something new and fabulous and I think you are too. So I’ve rounded up all the trends that I hope to see in stores in 2019.

Chaps

So this might sound crazy, but I am obsessed with chaps. They’re basically leg coverings made up of leggings and a belt, made famous by cowboys.

These days you can wear them with jeans, shorts or a t-shirt dress. Celebs have been wearing chaps for a while, but they are yet to catch on to the streets and local stores. Karlie Kloss, Janelle Monae and Perrie Edwards have worn chaps out and about while Beyonce and Rita Ora are known to perform in them.

Tie-dye everything

Making a huge comeback on the style scene is tie-dye and I hope this cute and easy to DIY trend takes over 2019. Make tie-dye less casual and more glam by pairing with heels and gorgeous accessories.

College dressing

Relive your university days with varsity jackets and preppy sweaters. Reality TV star Courtney Green is a huge fan of this trend and I hope more people will be following her lead.

Neon

Kim K has been rocking neon literally everywhere and designers like Moschino have been showing off this trend as well. I hope that this will get much bigger next year. Model and influencer, Monifa Jansen rocks neon like it was made for her on her Instagram.

Head to toe pink

Reality star Chloe Sims, Gigi Hadid and Rihanna all love the head to toe pink looks and it’s time it trickled down to the South African fashion streets. Yellow was supposed to be the new pink, but I hope that this iconic (and Legally Blonde approved) colour comes back in 2019.

Snakeskin

Snakeskin has been a big trend for some time, with Little Mix’s Leigh-Anne Pinnock, Rihanna and Kate Moss all wearing it recently. In 2019, I want to see more snakeskin on our local celebs and in stores.

Glam in gold

What’s more glamorous than gold? I say, nothing! Gold looks great on all skin tones and it makes every day feel a little more fabulous, so I hope to see it everywhere this year.
