2018 has been a tough year for Twitter trolls, mostly because celebrities have had enough and are now dishing back some of the nasty comments they receive
And for the most part it’s extremely entertaining for us, the viewers and followers.
With this in mind, we’ve taken a moment to compile some of 2018’s most memorable clapbacks in various awards categories.
The competition was stiff, but the following celebrities stood out with their clapback game this year (although a few of them for the wrong reasons).
Do you agree with our choices?
The Chest Pain Clapback – Bonang Matheba
We’ve seen many spicy clapbacks but Bonang’s “O tlo nyela, meisie kind” probably takes the cake as the meanest Twitter retort we’ve seen this year.
Bonang was fed up in 2018 and her other shady responses (“f*** yourself darling” and “you are ugly, sis”) were worthy mentions.
Of all tweets to Phil and his Sun city files, This is my fave….😂😂😂
“O tlo nyela…”- Bonang
“jy gaan kaak…” – Bonang
“uzo nya…” – Bonang pic.twitter.com/CT0cEMDbDw

The Namaste Clapback – Anele Mdoda
When a tweep mistakenly claimed that Anele Mdoda had been rude to her friend, the radio presenter responded with the most zen clapback we’ve ever seen on Twitter.
How would one even stay angry after being wished a “Happy Saturday”?
Last night I was at home watching Loving Pablo on Box office in Johannesburg. Don’t let people steal your joy wena Mpote, everyone goes through a bad day, it can’t affect yours. Happy Saturday. https://t.co/5mh0pQ7TBz

The In-You-Face Clapback – Nomzamo Mbatha
No, this isn’t a Bonang dig. Nomzamo Mbatha’s tax-inspired clapback was probably the most “savage” (it’s what the cool kids say now) tweet we’ve read in a while.
Many people thought that she had taken it a step too far with this reply and she deleted the tweet soon afterwards.
This right here 👇 is Hurricane Nomzamo 💨. Tropical MaMbatha 🌊…. A tweet that shook a nation, created employment and drove tax returns 😂😂😂 pic.twitter.com/21zjBlcBia
