Sophie Ndaba-Lichaba’s dramatic weight loss has been the talk of the town for the past few months

While some of her fans have expressed concern about her slimmer look, Sophie is adamant that she is living a healthier lifestyle after struggling with obesity and battling diabetes.

Speaking to Thando Thabethe in 5FM’s Thabooty Show, the actress says that there is no need for people to be worried about her as she is doing just fine.

“Yes, I may have lost a little too much weight but I don’t care. For people to say it’s too much, I don’t really care. See, I can say I need one more kilo, for someone else they may say, ‘hai this person needs 10 kilos’. No, my decision is that when I am happy, I am happy. I am happy and I feel fantastic,” ZAlebs quoted her as saying on the show.

Sophie added that her main purpose for losing the weight was to be healthy

“Let’s forget diabetes for a second. Let’s talk about the fact that as African women, we think we are sexy when we are overweight because we’ve got hips. So you get concerned when people say, ‘aw you’re still gorgeous as a full-figured woman’.  That’s amazing – but the reality is that it’s not healthy. So, for me I wanted to lose the weight.”

Sophie says that dropping all her extra kilos was the “hardest journey” she’s ever been through.

The 46-year-old has been called ugly names since losing all the weight, with some people even going as far as claiming she is terminally ill.

A death hoax last week left Sophie and her fans fuming.

“We are also human beings. If you prick me‚ I will feel pain,” she told SowetanLIVE about the “horrible” fake story .

But the actress will not let the haters get her down. She is working on a new TV programme, her events company is doing well and she is married to the man of her dreams, businessman Max Lichaba.
