Our blood pressure should be at a certain level in order for our body to function optimally. According to WebMD, a normal blood pressure reading is 120/80. Higher readings could lead to hypertension or high blood pressure. Hypertension can place a person at a higher risk of stroke, heart failure and heart attack.
You can help to keep your blood pressure at a healthy level by consuming a healthy diet, exercising, maintaining a healthy weight, giving up on smoking, reducing stress and limiting sodium, alcohol and caffeine from your diet.
Note that a person’s blood pressure may vary at different stages in their life-cycle. Be sure to have your blood pressure tested if you are concerned about its levels.
