Everyone loves a summer break until the initial excitement of kids who have just ticked another school year off the calendar wears off and boredom sneaks in…

Festival of Chariots

Description – an arts and culture festival that celebrates the unique fusion of “East meets West”. This includes a massive parade down the streets of Sea Point, live performances of classic music and dance, Hare Krishna food, and presentations by spiritually enlightened folk.

Simply South Gift & Craft Fair

Cape Town Minstrel Carnival

Description – also known as the Kaapse Klopse Festival, this is a vibrant festival that is loud, busy, and loads of fun. Thousands of singers, dancers and musicians descend on the CBD in their brightest Kaapse Klopse outfits and play for their spectators. This has ties to the slavery system of yesteryear and, while being an absolute party, is also an important part of the Western Cape heritage.

Sun Met Horse Race

Description – this continues to be one of the most glam and glitzy events for celebrities and horse racing fans from all over Africa.  It’s the perfect way to flaunt your fashion on a sweltering summer’s day, and to rub shoulders with some well-known faces.
