The beauty stakes are high – and it’s natural to want to look (and feel) your absolute best on your wedding day
It’s your wedding day – which means all eyes will be on you… Your hair, your make-up, your skin!
The beauty stakes are high – and it’s natural to want to look (and feel) your absolute best.
Aside from crossing your fingers and hoping that your best-in-the-biz glam squad will figure it out on the day, you can also plan out a beauty routine in the months leading up to your big day.
That way, when the ‘clock strikes 12’, and it’s time to unpin your hair and remove your make-up – you’ll still look and feel like the most beautiful version of yourself.
Here are five tips to help you jump-start your bridal beauty routine:
1. Don’t be tempted to switch products
It’s tempting to start a completely new beauty regime (and splurge thousands of rands in the process) in the weeks leading up to your wedding day. After all, you’re on a quest for gorgeous, glowing skin.
But, doing so can trigger an unwanted skin reaction; like acne.
Rather stick to the skincare products you know, and if you still feel the need to change it up, then do so after you’ve said ‘I do’!
Gorgeous, glowing skin literally starts from within
2. Now is not the time to experiment with a new ‘do’…
Dying to try Emma Stone’s fiery red hue? Or replicate Gigi Hadid’s blunt bangs?
Er, now’s not the time to do so. Botched hair is not something you want to add to your ‘stress list’.
Rather maintain the hairstyle and colour you’re used to wearing – and if you’re still itching for a change, then go for it once the big day has come and gone!
3. Get glowing skin from within
Before you blow your budget on fancy-schmancy cleansers, exfoliators, creams and serums, make sure your diet is up to scratch!
Yes; gorgeous, glowing skin literally starts from within.
While, there is a place for good skincare products on your dressing table, you can achieve a fresh, glowing complexion by eating a healthy diet full of the good stuff – and by good stuff we mean amino acids, vitamin C, antioxidants, and fats.
Think leafy greens, avos, lemons and orange veggies like sweet potatoes.
4. Work it out!
Exercise helps to tighten those lovely lady lumps and detox your skin, all while boosting your happy hormones and giving you an extra oomph of energy.
What are you waiting for?
5. Don’t risk a break-out
There are many factors that contribute to the development of acne – two of which we’re most familiar with – hormones and blocked pores.
But recent research shows that what we eat can also play a significant role in our skin’s appearance.
To prevent an unsightly break-out, avoid sugar, dairy products and junk food in the weeks leading up to your wedding day.
Rather load up on water, fresh fruit and veggies!
